Angelkit
Angelkit squirmed around weakly as she was put into the moss bed. She kept coughing pitifully and the virus was getting worse as she layed there. Soon it would be the dreaded disease of greencough. This disease would spread through the camp like wildfire. And this always claimed a young kits life especially a weak, frail kit such as herself. The kit didnt know this herslef but she just lay their still on the ground as she breathed labor breaths and her flank rose only so lightly. |

Icestar
She could hear her kits awful coughing in the background,"that is fine, ill be sure to watch out"was all she answered.She really hoped her kit would do fine, she loved her to death, her only kin left.
But she new she had to do 1 more thing before this next moon, Icestar jumps up easily o the branch then onto her leaders rock,"All cats old enough to catch their own prey i call upon a clan meeting", she waited in till she was sure all the cats where there."Cats of iceclan, first of i would like to warn you i have brought my sickly kit here into the clan", she waited as she new most cats didn't know she had a kit,"Second i would like to make a very important ceremony, Barkkit please step forward, i would like you to preper your self to day you, barkkit will become a APPRENTICE,"she jumped own from the great rock and walked up to Brakkit and looked deeply in to his eyes thy have grown big with excitement and his tail was moving very fast too she could see he could not wait any longer,"I leader of Iceclan call upon my warrior ancestors to guide this young kit as he learns his way into an apprentice, Barkkit you will now be known as Barkpaw" as soon as she said that she lightly touched her nose to his forehead, and everyone started to call his name 'Barkpaw Barpaw Barpaw' they all said it as they new one day he will be a warrior and serve his clan.
She just hoped one day too her kit will become an apprentice
Barkkit....Barkpaw
Barkkit was one of the first to be at the clearing as his leaders called, but he was very surprised when she said she had her very one kit, he got all hot in his belly like jealousy maybe, but he tried not to show it, why! why!? does my 'mom' have a kit and has never told me?,But the next thing she said made hims top thinking of that, Icestar said,' Barkkit please step forward, i would like you to preparer your self to day you, barkkit will become a APPRENTICE'.
Barkkit go very exited he jumped up right away his insides where turning and everything but he didn't show it in the outside, he glided to the center and sat down, suddenly Icestar jumped down and came up to him, he looked up at her. But just as soon she continued her speech,'Barkkit you will now be known as Barkpaw', was all he could remember he was soooo proud he could not wait he jumped up, but Icestar lightly touched her nose to his forehead, he thanked her by touching his tail to her flank.
Barkpaw felt as if his world has changed he could now sleep in the Apprentice den not the nursery....but wait he just noticed he couls sleep in the same den as...Irispaw, the she-cat he has a crush on his last tough before the meeting was over was, yes!.

Irispaw
I chanted his name with the rest of the clan. I was quite pleased, why? Don't ask me, I didn't know, but stupid idiot that I was, I probably thought it was cute that Barkkit- Barkpaw. Had become an apprentice. I coughed slightly, I'd been coughing alot lately. Probably was just the cold that Barkki-Barkpaw had had. Oh well. I'd just have to get some tansy and honey from Dahliapaw, the little kit- Icestar's kit most likely- that was in there was so cute, while Dahliapaw was out collecting herbs that she needed to stock up on, I helped warm the kit and everything. Maybe I'd gotten the cold from her. I felt unusually warm for the chilly Spring day. Maybe a run will help, I exited the camp and ran around trying to get rid of the cold's effects. The fever was cooling but in a weird way. I collapsed in a fit of coughs. Usually cold's didn't catch on so fast.

Barkpaw
Barkpaw was so exited to become an apprentice, but as soon as he saw Irispaw leave and she was coughing he followed closely behind.
As he followed her he toughed it was weird as she didn't notice him at all, then some thing weird happened she started having a coughing spaz, so he come out of hiding and went straight to help," Irispaw! Irispaw! are you OK, maybe you should see Dahliapw", he was so worried what will happen ti her, he bounced around in anxiety.

My coughing spasm ended and I straightened up. He couldn;t be near me, I had figured out what I had, and Barkpaw couldn't be near me. "I have Whitecough Barkpaw. Stay away from me. You're more likely to get it because of your cold cae." I explained carefully.

He understood now, but i could not be, no! no! not Irispaw why her why starcan why her?, he was soo had, he decided to answer her,"Irispaw ill go warn Dahliapw you are coming and Icestar their is more sickness, OK, hurry get to camp fast!"
Barkpaw ran as fast as he could to the medicine cat's den,"dahliapw your sister has whitecough she is on her way she is very sick, but now i have to warn Icestar" he left before she had a chance to ask or say anything back to him.
He found Icestar watching the camp on rock point,"Icestar! Icestar! Irispaw has whitecough there is sickness in the clan she is on her way to the medicine cats den i hope", he waited for the leaders response, but he was so worried for her,Irispaw, he had to know if she was OK.
Icestar
She got a little bit worried when she saw Barpaw running around every where but when she heard the news she replied by saying sternly,"Barkpaw you have to stay away from the medicine cats den so you wont get sick,promise, OK now ill go check out the new case".
Icestar walks over to the medicine cats den wondering if she really had whitecough, ohh starclan protect Iceclan please protect my kin....
"Dahliapaw what is going on here is there another whitecough case, please don't let it be..."

Irispaw and Dahliapaw
Iris was standing next to Dahlia, Dahlia looked truly worried. "It shouldn't have spread that fast." She murmured before Icestar came in. Dahlia looked up at Icestar. "I'm afraid there is." She replied gently while grabbing some Catmint, tansy, honey, feverfew, chervile root and chickweed. The chickweed was just in case. Dahlia hurried to Angelkit and gave her the same mixture. It was a lot to take in but they both had to take it. Irispaw gulped it down reluctantly. "I'm fine." She rasped before breaking down in a coughing fit. Dahlia picked up Angelkit and rested her tail on Irispaw's shoulder. :We can't lat this spread so I'm taking these two to a special place." Dahlia said before hurrying off and coming back alone. "I'll take care of them, and Iris'll take care of SAngelkit."

NINJAPELT
Ninjapelt padded into the medicine cat den and sat down. She had been out looking for herbs and had come back late. Sorry about that. I had been collecting herbs. Putting the catmint, tansy and honey in the right paces. It spead fast, didn't it? she meowed and sat down. Looking around, she cleaned out all of the herbs that had gone bad and meowed We need as much as we can get, so we're prepared. I am going to get more. Ninjapelt padded away for some time and came back with a mouthfull of herbs. She put the chervile root, chickweed, and feverfew in their right sopts then meowed That should be good for now. Praying, hoping, that it wouldn't spread, Ninjapelt sat down and looked around. [/color] |

Dahliapaw
I stared at the new medicine cat up and down. "So we got a good medicine cat did we?" She asked. She didn't particularly like new cats, unless they were kits. Her long hidden vacant face came back and her face showed nothing, her eyes were shallow, nothing could be shown through her colour blind, blurred eyes. "Yeah, it did." Sadness entered her voice unintentionally she immediately went quiet. "A kit and an apprentice.... Icestar make sure no one comes over this side of the camp, especially Barkpaw and the elders." She started dishing out the commands before skipping out to bring back some more herbs, pretty much all of the medicinal herbs there was. If they were going to be taking care of her sister and Icestar's daughter 24/7 then they couldn't constantly be out looking for herbs.

Icestar was so worried now she could not believe it spread this fast, "of course i thrust you to take care of my kin' icestar replied but when the new medicine cat came back with herbs she could tell Dahliapaw was surprise,"Everyone this is Ninjapelt, our new Medicine cat and Dahliapwa's new mentor till she gates her warrior name."
Icestar looked around her, at her clan they were all so fragile,''yes Dahliapw i will keep everyone far, they could all catch it too.''
She looked down at her daughter and lightly touched her with the tip of her tail, as a good luck/love sing.
Barkpaw
He was scared not just for him self and Angelkit, as he heard them call the new arrival, but his crush...Irispaw, he was scared for her sake all he could do was walk back and forth in the clearing, till Icestar told him to go on a small patrol.....

Irispaw
I smiled at Dahlia and then blanked my face to Ninjapelt, I dunno why, I just didn't trust new comers. I broke down in a fit of coughs then picked up Angelkit to take her to the far wall where we'd be least likely to let the disease spread. Dahlia passed some tansy, catmint, honey and feverfew. A few poppy seeds were mixed in to help us to both sleep. I gave it all to Angelkit, none for me. I needed to stay awake to take care of the kit, she needed it all anyways.

Ninjapelt nodded at her giving the poppyseeds to the kit, and then meowed "Its ok, you can trust me." She then looked around blanky, wondering why cats had to be a little picky about their medicine cats. Ninjapelt began to sort out all of the herbs after Dahliapaw gave the herbs to the two sickly cats. Deciding to give ther herb sorting a break, she looked around wondering what next to do.

Icestar and Barkpaw
Icestar called,"Barkapw i would like for you to come on your first hunting trip, its so we can feed the sick and the clan, come a long" she started to lead the way.
Barkpaw was very exited as he followed Icestar he was bouncing on his paws,"what will we try to catch today?'' he was very curious.
Icestar walked toward her favorite clearing and sat down,"today we will try to catch mice, for you, and i will try to catch a hare for the sick and the medicine cats." she answered easily. Now she stood up and was gonna show him how to do a hunting crouch."Now Barkpaw i want you to try this, put your front paws down and try putting your back haunches slightingly back/down but not all the way, and don't let your tail stick out...."
Barkpaw tried to do what his mentor told him, he put his haunches down and his front side even lower , his tail was down but not touching the ground,"is this good?" he asks in clear wonder.
"perrrrferct" she replies,"now try stalking your prey and jump, trap then make the kill" she point to where the smell of mice was coming from.
Barkpaw starts walking very slowly he stops when he can see the figure of a mouse..no two mice, he stalks slowly forward and jumps, he scared one mouse of but caught the other he dint kill it quickly but he killed it.
icestar was very proud he made a kill in his first try, it wasn't perfect but it was good, for a first timer,"Very good Barkpaw now if you practice this you could become a master hunter, now keep hunting we need more food" Icestar walks away to hunt some hares and maybe a fish.
In the end when Barkapw and Icestar came back the had 1 fish 3 mice and 1 hare.Icestar carried the hare to where the sick where she stayed about three fox tail length away,"excuse me Dahliapaw this is for you to share but, a haven't ever given Angelkit solid food yet"
Icestar waited what will she do...
Barkpaw caries the rest of the food to the fresh kill pile and takes a mouse for his self.

Dahliapaw
What could she do with a kit that hadn't been able to eat solid food yet. "Well..." What could I do? Icestar was the kit's mother, and she didn't have whitecough and she was susceptible to the sickness. They couldn't let the leader get sick. She got a sort of idea. Pushing a stone that was dish shaped she took the fish and sliced a small chunk off with her claws. Crushing it into pulp and putting a bit of water in it. She grabbed some honey to make it more thick like milk. The whole thing was just like milk now. I took the bowl over to the kit and gently eased her muzzle to the mixture hoping that she'd eat it.

She looked over at what Dahliapw was doing it was smart, she watched, and hoped her kit would eat,"Dahliapaw if she doesn't eat try mixing my milk in some fish too, maybe that will work but hopefully she will eat that!" she called over to where the sick cats where.
From where Icestar was standing she could see Angelkit she was growing much but she wasn't getting much better either... she just hoped.
Barkpaw
He watched as everyone started worrying about the fact that the lil kit could not eat yet, but he couldn't stop thinking about Irispaw.
He walked as close as he could to the medicine cats refuge camp,"excuse me can i visit ...ummm....Irispaw please",he begged and tired to make a cute kitten voice.
